Welcome To The Airborne Network Home Page

Parachute

Welcome to the Airborne Network, a not-for-profit group of former Airborne officers and Serving Reserve Officers, which aims to support RHQ PARA and its linked Airborne Charities. This will be done by disseminating information of a social, commercial or charitable nature on behalf of RHQ PARA and the Network area representatives.

Benefits

  1. Support Airborne fundraising events, including helping to find sponsors.
  2. Disseminate information on recruiting activities in local areas e.g. The Red Devils and Recruiting Teams
  3. Disseminate information on the death of any notable serving or retired Airborne personnel
  4. Publicise reunions e.g. The Falklands Celebrations, Arnhem, Officers' Dinner, PRA and other social events
  5. Assist Airborne units to raise their profile in recruiting areas and make local employers aware of any 4 PARA units/subunits and their activities
  6. Provide an information exchange to keep members of the Network up-to-date with relevant developments in Airborne Forces
  7. Monitor Airborne memorials across the country and abroad

Aim

The Airborne Network will act as a notice board for such Airborne related activities as are notified to it by RHQ PARA and any regular or reserve Airborne unit.

Veterans Aid Annual Review 2008-09
Did you know that the Charity provided 20,223 nights of accommodation last year for homeless ex-servicemen? Read about this and more in their very moving Annual Report - please click here. If we don't know much about this we really should.
The Military Covenant
We read about it in our newspapers, we hear about it on radio, see pundits pontificating on television about it, our generals and politicians say that it is in breach (or not) and the Royal British Legion have launched a campaign in support of it. All servicemen acknowledge that it exists and have an idea about it and what it means, but do the population at large including many of our political masters and public servants also acknowledge that it exists, and in writing? Quite simply, do they know what the Military Covenant really is? See the News & features page for the article
Veteran's Badge
For those of us who are no longer in the medal stakes - have you claimed your Veteran's Badge? If not go here!

Beneficiaries-

will be those former Airborne members who are in business, governmental or civil positions of influence, and to those who have retired, for the benefit of Airborne Forces and to preserve it's heritage.

The Network-

does not replace or seek to duplicate any of the existing ‘official’ networks e .g the PRA, but it aims to draw in many with whom RHQ has lost touch, whilst streamlining communications with those still 'close' to the Airborne family.
